I am terribly afraid of spiders, at the very sight of them I have the impression that they are walking for me everywhere. As a result, I have problems falling asleep. The spiders make me furious, I cry like a little baby at night because I imagine they are everywhere. I can't explain to myself that they won't hurt me, quite the opposite. Of course, the bigger ones are the worst. I do not know how to deal with it, I am ashamed of it, sometimes I feel like a small child, because of this fear I cannot fall asleep in bed by myself, I always have to with someone.
When working with this type of anxiety, it is not worth trying to simply fight it. In addition, I advise you not to be ashamed of him. It will be more useful for you to try to understand the meaning of this experience, to learn something about yourself from it. What are you really afraid of when you are afraid of spiders? In your account, I noticed a few elements that may turn out to be interesting for you: 1. You imagine that spiders "walk all over you" - perhaps anxiety mainly concerns some kind of tactile and sensory impressions. 2. Spiders make you furious - maybe your fear is about expressing some violent emotions. 3. You feel like a small child - what kind of childhood experiences, memories, decisions can now be recreated in the fear of spiders? 4. Do you have a need to fall asleep with someone - is there some part of the fear of spiders justifying the natural and maybe not completely accepted by you need for closeness and contact? Good luck in finding a deeper sense of your experience. And spiders are just spiders.
