I am 43 years old and have been suffering from hypertension for 10 years. I take drugs: accupro, diurasin, metocard, doxar, acard. I have a question - are there new generation tablets on our market that would replace the above-mentioned drugs in one tablet, and are there any hypertension regulating patches on our market, because apparently in Western Europe such patches exist?

All medications you take can be considered "modern". I put quotation marks because the acetylsalicylic acid mentioned among them, although known to medicine for a long time, some aspects of its action on the cardiovascular system have been explained quite recently. Hypertension is a disease that occurs as a result of many negative factors affecting the circulatory system. They cause changes in various regulatory systems - such as the sympathetic system or the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. For this reason, most patients require at least two (and often more) drugs with different mechanisms of action - so that various disturbances in the circulation are brought under control. Some specialists believe that each drug should be in a separate tablet, while others try to combine the drugs into one tablet. The most common are two-component tablets, very rarely three-component tablets. Proponents of administering drugs in separate tablets argue that in the event of intolerance symptoms, it is easier to discontinue the ingredient that the patient does not tolerate. Supporters of the combined pill argue that patients accept one tablet more easily than several. Personally, I am a supporter of the "one drug=one tablet" rule. As for the patches, I know of two drugs used in the form of patches, but they have not gained much popularity neither among doctors nor among patients. Of great importance in good blood pressure control is compliance with lifestyle modifications, such as no smoking, physical activity, maintaining a he althy body weight, avoiding stress and adequate sleep hours during the night (sleeping during the day is not the same!). All medications necessary for the effective treatment of hypertension are available for sale in Poland. A few new preparations in clinical trials, even after their introduction to the market, will not change the rule of taking at least twodrugs due to the multifactorial nature of arterial hypertension.
