I'm 33 weeks pregnant. More than a month ago, I did my Ureaplasma tests. Unfortunately, the examination showed the presence of this bacteria. I started treatment with Sumamed - 6 doses. Another culture performed more than 3 weeks after the treatment showed the presence of this bacteria. Moreover, according to the antibiogram, this bacterium is sensitive only to antibiotics prohibited during pregnancy. It is unlikely to be wiped out before birth. What is the risk of premature birth and what is the risk of infection of the baby during natural birth and its possible consequences?
Ureaplasma urealyticum poses a risk of preterm labor and, in the event of intrauterine infection, fetal hypotrophy. However, the percentage of all causes of these complications cannot be specified (there are no such studies). I can only write that both of these complications are very rare, so the risk that Ureaplasma causes them is small. The fetus can become infected during childbirth, these bacteria can cause urinary and respiratory tract infections.
