I am in premature menopause and have been taking Angeliq hormone pills for five years. Recently, I have had a problem with itching in the vagina and the genital area. After examination, the gynecologist found that I had an erosion of the cervix. He prescribed the following vaginal medications for me: Betadine, Gynalgin, Macmiror, Orungal. Today I got my culture results and no bacteria, all very well. I called the doctor and asked if the diagnosis was correct, but he said that I should take all the medications as prescribed. Could the culture results be ideal for an erosion? And why is it itching when the vagina is in perfect condition?

I can only guess that you were cultured before treatment. However, you did not write where it was collected from and in what direction the inoculation was performed. For example, if it is for aerobic bacteria, the test will not show anaerobic bacteria, neither chlamydia, fungi, nor trichomoniasis. The same applies to the place where the culture was taken from.

So I advise you to follow the recommendations of the doctor examining you. Especially since itching is a symptom of inflammation or allergy. An erosion is a lesion on the cervix, redness associated with changes in the cells of the epithelium covering the vaginal shield. It often develops with inflammation of the cervix, but not always.
