The flat stomach diet has two steps. The first is a four-day bloating program designed to flush out fluids, reduce the amount of water retained in the body, and address digestive problems such as gas and constipation that make your stomach bloat unnecessarily. For this purpose, you should drink 2 liters of water by Cynthia Sass every day and consume products from a special list, incl. cucumbers, tomatoes, skim milk, sunflower seeds, chicken or turkey breast meat. In the first phase of the diet, you should give up coffee (even unsweetened), alcohol, cocoa, s alt and other spices, except basil and mint. The daily energy value of meals should not exceed 1200 kcal.

The second stage is dietproper, which lasts 28 days. During this time, you should eat 4 meals a day, the energy value of each of which should be 400 kcal. Therefore, the daily dose of calories should not exceed the sum of 1600. As Sass argues, this is exactly what an average physically active woman with an average body build needs to function properly.
Every meal should contain products rich in MUFA, that is:
- oils: Canadian canola oil, olive oil, sesame oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, linseed oil, walnut oil or peanut oil and pesto sauce
- nuts and seeds, including almonds, Brazil nuts, Italian peanuts, cashews, pistachios, sunflower and pumpkin seeds as well as peanut, almond and peanut butter

- olives: black and green
- chocolate (but at least 70% cocoa)
Cynthia Sass's flat stomach diet also includes lean and white meat, fish, dairy and wholemeal products. Red meat is only allowed once a month. It is best to eliminate animal fats from the diet, i.e. fatty meat and cold cuts, yellow cheese, cream, as well as sweets (except for dark chocolate).
