My problems started in 2004. I went to a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Treatment began. After a while I had a suicide attempt. At the age of 17, I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of schizotypal disorders. All the time I used PZP help and took medications. In the meantime, I was in the hospital 3 more times and had 1 more suicide attempt. I was taking regularly: risperidone, sponges, injections of decaldol. It was the years 2004-2007. I haven't taken any medications since 2007 and I feel perfectly fine. I would like to know what should I do? Can I go to any hospital or center to verify if it is schizophrenia or another disease or not at all? Let me add that I have never had any visual delusions or hallucinations, I have never heard voices.
The name schizophrenia evokes bad associations. But the fact that such a diagnosis has been made several times cannot be helped. You don't need to worry about that one word, the most important thing is that you are well. And that without drugs?
Psychoses have different course, there may be longer periods without any disturbances. Drugs are then taken prophylactically so that these disorders do not come back.
Based on this brief description of the symptoms or their absence, I am not able to comment on the diagnosis. It is difficult to verify the diagnosis once made, because now you are not in the same condition as then, but you can ask for it in a hospital or clinic. I doubt if they will agree as the wards are usually overcrowded.
Please don't make yourself believe that you are stigmatized.
