People often associate alcohol with feeling better, relaxing, and even problem-solving. There are many myths about it in society - the driver, after drinking alcohol and a few hours' sleep, can sit behind the wheel again or about its warming properties. What is true?

Alcohol is a physically and mentally addictive substance. Occasional drinking, such as on weekends, is wrongly viewed as not hazardous to addiction. The truth is that in addition to a certain habit and tolerance for such behavior, which we take as normal, there are noticeable emotional benefits related to relaxation, reducing stress, and even enhancing self-esteem.

On the other hand, when every stressful situation is associated with the desire to reach for a glass, it is also a reason to think. If you drink every time you feel anxious, you may be at risk of a "vicious cycle" mechanism that leads to addiction.

Experts say that the risk of becoming trapped in addiction can be minimized. It turns out that if alcohol is consumed intensively before the age of 20, such a person may develop addiction within a few months. People who start their alcohol initiation later extend the path to possible addiction.

Another aspect that reduces the risk of alcoholism has to do with refraining from drinking large but single doses or not consuming repeated small amounts. Myths about alcohol, especially in Polish society, mislead many people.

From our list you will learn, among other things, whether:

  • alcohol has warming properties,
  • drinking in small amounts has a positive effect on digestion,
  • you will be more drunk by mixing different liquors.
