36-year-old woman struggled with an extremely persistent cough. She blamed COVID-19 for this condition. Six months later, the diagnosis was devastating - she was diagnosed with lung cancer, one of the world's leading causes of death. - I never thought this would happen to me. I'm so young. I didn't even smoke, Becky David told the Daily Mail.

British Becky David, of Redditch, Worcestershire, developed coughing fits shortly after the outbreak of the pandemic. She attributed this symptom to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The cough began to interfere with her daily activities. As the 36-year-old said, "she did a lot of tests, but all of them tested negative."

She did not expect such a diagnosis

After six months, the doctors diagnosed it - the cough turned out to be a symptom of non-small cell lung cancer with a rearrangement in the ALK gene, i.e. aplastic lymphoma kinase. This cancer occurs in a small population of patients.

At first she could not come to terms with this verdict. - I never thought this would happen to me. I'm so young. I didn't even smoke, Becky David said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

According to Becky, "the pandemic affected how it turned out." As she added, she was treated during a TV visit and was only prescribed more and more antibiotics.

A woman is raising her 6-year-old daughter Lexi by herself. Now she wants to spend as much time as possible with her child - she does not hide her illness from her. - I told my daughter that I had cancer and I wouldn't be here forever. I want her to know what's coming and that mom will go to heaven, Becky confessed.

"She doesn't know how much time she has left."

The use of chemotherapy is not associated with a cure. To fund Becky's treatment that would extend her life, the family raised a $ 16,000 fundraiser. pounds. "I can only hope it gives me more time with Lexi." This therapy is the last shot for me. I don't have any more money for further treatment, Becky said.

The 36-year-old admitted "she doesn't know how much time she has left". She holds on to the hope that she will be able to live for a few more years. As she stated, "all she can do is wait and watch."
