My 15-year-old son was recently diagnosed with hydronephrosis with extreme thinning of the parenchyma without a dilated ureter. Is kidney removal surgery necessary in this situation? Because only such a solution was offered to us.
Removal of a kidney requires determining whether the kidney function is preserved or decreased, and in what percentage. For this purpose, isotope examination of the kidneys is performed, which by determining the kidney function allows for appropriate treatment. If the kidney does not secrete and has hydronephrosis, it should be removed precisely because of the presence of hydronephrosis.
