Hello! I was on a CDD limb scan. Here is my description of this examination: - deep venous system of both lower limbs, open along the entire length, with no visible parietal thrombus; - reflux in all segments of the deep system within the physiological norm; - valve at the mouth of the saphenous vein insufficient along with the trunk along its entire length in both limbs; - valve at the mouth of the small sagittal vein, efficient in both limbs, along with the trunk in both compartments; - insufficient perforators were visualized; - venous sinuses of the muscles of the lower leg unchanged in both limbs. I am asking for an interpretation of the result of my examination, because I am scheduled for a visit to the doctor only in November, and I would like to know what treatment awaits me, will I need surgery, and if so, what will it be? I must admit that I am a bit afraid of a possible surgery. I would also like to add that I am 52 years old. Please reply.
Hello, surgical treatment is recommended in the case of saphenous vein insufficiency. It is possible to perform a classic operation with incision in the groin and mechanical removal of the vein, or minimally invasive procedures involving coagulation of the veins from the inside with a laser or the so-called RF or radiation wave. These treatments help to avoid scars in the groin, and the discomfort after the surgery is much smaller. Regards, M Kielar
