Dear Doctor, I have had varicose veins on my left leg for several years. The vein is most bulged around the knee and upwards from the knee. I come from Tarnobrzeg, I was at a vascular surgeon who talked about the possibility of having this varicose surgery removed by the traditional method in a hospital in Mielec. It would look like there would be a cut in the groin and ankle at the bottom of the leg and that bad vein would be stretched out. But recently on TV I heard that this is an old method and it does not apply. What is your opinion, should I undergo this "old" method and are there any other methods - which would be reimbursed by the National He alth Fund. This varicose vein does not hurt me, but its bulge is large and I would like to get rid of it for aesthetic reasons. I am asking for advice.
Hello, the classic operation is still performed, in many cases it is the only solution. If the anatomical conditions allow for a minimally invasive procedure, a met vein closure procedure can be performed. laser or radio wave. In these cases, the vein is not removed, but closed from the inside - the result is less discomfort, less risk of complications and a better aesthetic effect. Unfortunately, the costs of reimbursement by the National He alth Fund are so low that these methods are used commercially
