Hello, my husband had a popliteal artery operation on January 24, 2013. On the second day he got up and walked slowly. On January 29, the veins were ultrasound, a 63mm-30mm hematoma was found and they were discharged home. My husband suffers a lot, he cannot sleep at night, he takes injections in his abdomen, painkillers and an ointment with heparin, and 1000 liotone too. Now, after visiting the vascular clinic, exactly today, patches with morphine have been prescribed for him. Does such a state have to continue and how much longer? It was said that after a month he would be fine, and it would be soon, and the pain was unbearable. What to do? I am begging you for help, I will do anything to help my husband. Yours sincerely, Alicja

A small hematoma should not cause such ailments. The question of vessel patency looks like - the patient should be assessed by a vascular surgeon on an ongoing basis.
