My granddaughter will be 4 in January 2008, at the moment she does not pronounce many words correctly and she cannot speak in full sentences. She is currently in England with my parents and I am becoming more and more concerned about her.
A 4-year-old child should communicate in simple sentences, understand and perform complex commands, recognize colors, talk often, talk about what they did in kindergarten, during a walk. These should be stories that the listener can understand. Although a child of this age often does not know all the words he wants to use in his speech, he makes his own words. They are no longer used around the age of 5. A four-year-old can pronounce soft sounds correctly and sounds such as s, z, c, dz. If your granddaughter's speech state differs from the norm described above, it is necessary to consult a speech therapist. It is important that it is a Polish speech therapist, because he will be able to communicate with his granddaughter best and diagnose her accurately.
