- Visiting ban - how to tell the patient what he needs?
If you are in the hospital, you are probably wondering: what to take to the hospital? When packing the bag, it is worth remembering that due to the coronavirus pandemic, hospitals are subject to a stricter sanitary regime, which is related to, inter alia, with no visit. The hospital bag should therefore be packed in such a way that you won't run out of anything. What to take to the hospital?
A stay in hospital during the COVID-19 pandemiclooks a bit different than before - mainly due to the visit ban and strict sanitation regime. For the patient, this means a lot of changes - and the most important is that contact with the closest people is possible only by phone.
Due to the visit ban, it is difficult to report to the sick person those things (including basic necessities) that he or she has not taken or has already run out of - although many facilities allow for contacting these things without contact.
Therefore, you should be well prepared for your stay in the hospital. How?What to take to the hospital? ICDefibrillators.
Hospital bag - iron kit
As explained by Dorota Gwóźdź - Many new procedures regarding the rules of hospitalization related to the strict sanitary regime may be surprising for the patients. It is worth asking about them directly in the centers and applying a few universal rules independently of them. The bag to the hospital must therefore contain:
- identity document and medical documentation from previous stays in the hospital
- personal hygiene products, such as: soap, hair shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, everyday cosmetics - it is worth packing them in a plastic cosmetic bag, because it makes disinfection very easy
- pajamas, towel (perfect for a sporty, quick-drying one), bathrobe or tracksuit, socks and flip-flops for the shower, slippers
- razor, hair dryer
- hygienic and moisturizing wipes
- drugs that the patient takes on a permanent basis, especiallyhighly specialized drugs
- phone and charger
Hospital bag - food and cutlery
Is it worth taking a set of cutlery to the hospital? It's worth it, although - as Dorota Gwóźdź replies - in the era of the COVD-19 epidemic, many hospitals use disposable coverings.
- When it comes to the sanitary regime at meals, cutlery, cups and plates, i.e. everything we normally use when eating, are disposable and delivered directly from the hospital kitchen. Meals prepared taking into account the individual diet of the patient go directly to the patient - explains Dorota Gwóźdź.
Marta Kamińska from the ICDefibrillators Association adds: - Optionally, you can take dry food with you, which can be stored in cabinets, yoghurts, which should be packed in airtight containers before storing in the refrigerator, as well as a small thermos, coffee and tea. A small bottle of washing-up liquid and a dishwasher will help. Many hospitals have vending machines where you can buy drinks, so it won't hurt to prepare some coins as well, advises Marta Kamińska.
Visiting ban - how to tell the patient what he needs?
Although hospitals are forbidden to visit due to the pandemic, the family can contact the patient without contact with things that they need. However, it is not that simple.
- In order to efficiently convey the necessary things to the patient, it is necessary to know what ward the patient is in. Sign the package with your name and surname. To hand it over, go to the appropriate ward, ring the intercom, and the staff will pick up and hand over the items to the appropriate patient. This is how it is done in our center. In other hospitals, the procedure may be slightly different, so it is worth asking about the applicable rules on the spot - says Dorota Gwóźdź.
