My doctor suspects I have thyroid problems. I had to get tests for TSH levels in my blood. Could the results of the test be influenced in any way by the antidepressant pills that I had been taking for 2 weeks?

Hello,
Taking pills for such a short period of time should not make any difference to your TSH test result. The correct result is in the range of 0.36-3.25 µLU / ml. Thyroid problems can be caused by various causes, including long-term stress, smoking, taking medications. Of course, our diet and a poor diet lacking iron and iodine can cause a thyroid problem. Let's try to include seafood, fish, potatoes and multigrain products in the menu. When cooking food, it is good to use iodized s alt, which is added at the very end of cooking to avoid rinsing the iodine out of the meal. Of course, we use any s alt in moderation, as over-s alt is harmful not only to the thyroid gland, but to the entire body. The farther we live from the sea, the natural base of iodine, the greater the risk of thyroid problems. Let's try at least once a year in the fall or spring - this is when the greatest "radiation" of iodine is, go to the sea and walk as much as possible. Let's check the level of thyroid hormones prophylactically, but it is not only worth having an x-ray of the lungs, visiting a urologist (for men) and a gynecologist (for women). All this will allow you to pick up abnormalities in the body.
