I have been diagnosed with anxiety neurosis and take an antidepressant. Can taking psychotropic drugs adversely affect offspring? I am very afraid that because I am taking medication now, I will have sick children. Are anti-depressants not being taken at all during pregnancy? Only for the first 3 months? How much time does the body have to "cleanse" before trying to get pregnant?

Let me start with the end: the body "cleans" itself very quickly after drug discontinuation, within 1-3 days, only after fluoxetine it lasts up to several weeks. Antidepressants may have a varying influence on the development of the fetus, but the effects are usually minimal. The rule of thumb is to avoid drugs during pregnancy, as well as alcohol and cigarettes, but there are always pros and cons to weigh up. Taking medications before pregnancy can in no way make babies sick! Regards!
