I'd like to know how I can help my husband's brother. His brother-in-law has suicidal thoughts after his fiancée has abandoned him and his one-year-old daughter. Since then, he has been abusing alcohol and telling us that he will do something bad to himself. Recently, I noticed razor blade marks on his forearm. Please help me, I know he is capable of suicide.
I am afraid that it is beyond your strength and possibilities. He should talk to a "neutral" therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist to whom he will not demonstrate his determination to death. Or maybe his fiancée will come back soon, even to the child? Maybe it makes my brother-in-law not drink? That's the stupidest thing he can do right now. But you have no influence on that.
