64 percent physically active Poles (nearly 21 million inhabitants of Poland over 15 years of age) make an effort not related to work at least once a month, taking into account, among others, recreational activities such as walking or cycling for transportation purposes.

- The result of the MultiSport Index survey allows us to suppose that in the field of physical activity undertaken by Poles, "something has changed" and that this is the beginning of changes in the right direction. At the same time, it should be remembered that this indicator takes into account physical activity undertaken at least once a month, and the postulated minimum doses of adult activity according to the World He alth Organization (WHO) are 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of intense physical effort per week. From this perspective, the results of the study are not so optimistic for Poles - explains Dr. Janusz Dobosz from the National Center for the Study of Physical Condition of the University of Physical Education in Warsaw.

The young generation aged 15-24 (80%), people in education (90%) or those with higher education (78%) are mainly active. The traffic is also eagerly used by Poles, whose monthly income exceeds PLN 5,000 (83%), we learn from the MultiSport Index 2022 survey on physical activity of Poles, which was carried out by Kantar on behalf of Benefit Systems, the creator of the MultiSport program.

For he alth, relaxation and body shape

- Today there are two percent more physically active Poles than a year ago. Even the smallest increase in physical activity should be a joy, because exercise is a way to improve he alth and maintain a good quality of life. It is he alth that mobilizes as much as 43 percent. of us for exercise and is the most common nowadaysthe reason for taking up physical activity - says Adam Radzki, Member of the Management Board of Benefit Systems. - 21 percent Poles exercise mainly at weekends - it's about 5 percent. more than in 2022. It is worth noting that this change coincides with the introduction of trade restrictions on Sundays. We are most willing to exercise in the evenings - this time for physical activity is chosen by 35 percent. Poles.

27 percent Poles exercise for pleasure and relaxation, and 14 percent for the improvement of appearance and figure - in these two groups the majority of people under 30 years of age. Active Poles most willingly use cycling, which this year has outpaced running, which has enjoyed many years of popularity. After running, the next sports choice for Poles are walks and training in the gym or in the fitness club.

Pole in a sports facility

The most frequently visited sports facilities are gyms and swimming pools, which are already used by every fifth active Pole. 41 percent of us spend from 50 to 99 zlotys a month for this purpose. As many as one-third of people taking up physical activity in sports facilities do not pay any fees for it, using, among others, from sports cards offered by employers in the form of non-wage benefits.

- MultiSport sports cards are becoming more and more popular. In Poland, this solution is already used by over a million people. Thanks to the card, access to various sports infrastructure is becoming easier, which translates directly into the growing level of physical activity of Poles. We have greater opportunities to learn about various forms of physical activity and choose the one in which we feel best. The declarations of the MultiSport program users show that as much as 78 percent. of them, thanks to the card, they use traffic more often, and 68 percent. he exercises differently, engaging in new types of training - emphasizes Adam Radzki.

The involvement of physically active Poles is growing

The authors of the report emphasize that almost half of Poles are active in sports. These are people who exercise at least once a week, taking up sports activities such as fitness or swimming, excluding recreation.

- The MultiSport Index 2022 survey shows that active people exercise more intensively. Already 19 percent of Poles play sports five times a week, which is 3 percent more than a year ago. The increase in the frequency of training undertaken among active people is a signal that they see the beneficial effect of physical activity on their well-being, if they want sport to become a permanent element of their everyday life - emphasizes Dr. Janusz Dobosz.

At the other extreme, there is 36 percent. Poles who do not undertake any physical activity, even ordinary oneswalks.

- Among them, as many as 53 percent. are people over 55 years of age. The results clearly show us that the enthusiasm for exercise decreases with age. Meanwhile, it is physical activity that allows you to maintain vitality for longer. The World He alth Organization recognized immobility as the fourth cause of mortality in the world, right after cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diseases caused by aging processes - adds Dr. Janusz Dobosz.
