I have experienced very sudden jumps in blood pressure for some time. I have diabetes with low blood pressure and low blood pressure. Suddenly, at the beginning of January, the pressure jumped (190/110), there was a strong trembling of the body, a feeling of suffocation. After visiting cardiology, endocrinology, and tests for pheochromocytoma - nothing was found. Jumping is still happening. I am 54 years old, waiting for a kidney scan. Could such jumps be related to the kidneys?
Blood pressure is a value that changes quite often throughout the day. If the pressure values do not exceed 140/90 mmHg, it can be considered that this variability is caused by physiological stimuli, which include the state of the nervous system, exercise, sleep, food consumption, etc. look for a cause other than physiological stimuli.
The most common cause of increases in blood pressure is excessive dietary sodium ion intake. In your case, my advice would be to first analyze the meals you eat. In Poland, the most common sources of sodium ion (s alt) in the diet are: bread (the most s alt is in baguettes), sausages (the drier the sausage is, the more s alt it contains), dry yellow cheese, pizza and similar dishes. Other sources with a high s alt content include sauerkraut, pickled cucumbers, and stock cubes.
In addition to diet, anxiety and anxiety are common causes of increases in blood pressure. Finally, another cause is the changes in your hormonal profile associated with the menopause. You should definitely pay attention to your diet and analyze the circumstances in which your blood pressure increases every day.
Without a kidney test, it's hard to tell if the increases in blood pressure could be related to any kidney disease. The examination of the kidneys most often performed in connection with the diagnosis of hypertension is ultrasound of the abdominal cavity - the size of the kidneys, the thickness of the cortex and the structure of the kidneys are determined. The second test is a Doppler ultrasound of the renal arteries, which assesses the condition of the arteries - the test determines if there is a narrowing of the renal artery. The condition can cause high blood pressure that is resistant to treatment.
Scintigraphy is less commonperformed test helpful in diagnosing conditions related to impaired outflow of urine and kidney function. If any irregularities are found, other specialist examinations are performed. You should discuss the scope of the tests with your attending physician.
