I would like to ask about the pressure amplitude. Normal is assumed to be 30-50 mmHg. What happens in the heart when these values are exceeded, even significantly? What is the danger for the heart and the body? I would be very grateful for the answer, because I couldn't find it anywhere, and the cardiologist asked only explained: "It's so complicated, you would have to finish your studies …". I am very happy that I was able to find a contact with you. I believe that due to your profession, you are the right person in this topic and you would like to briefly and simply explain this complicated thing to a layman.

I agree with the cardiologist that the matter you are asking about is quite complicated.

First of all, one should make sure whether the increased amplitude actually takes place, or whether it is only the result of the measurement - perhaps not entirely correctly performed. There are not so many real causes of the increased amplitude of blood pressure in everyday life - it can practically appear in elderly people when the systolic pressure increases and the diastolic pressure decreases. The second reason, possible to meet in a young person, is the so-called hyperkinetic circulation (a condition in which the blood circulates faster) - this can be idiosyncratic and sometimes caused by an overactive thyroid gland. A third cause may be a defect of the aortic valves in the form of their regurgitation. However, it is a very rare condition that can be ignored in practical considerations.

So depending on what the cause is, there may be different symptoms and consequences for the body. In general, symptoms such as dizziness, impending fainting, weakness may occur with an increased pressure difference. On the other hand, a more frequent situation is finding in measurements a greater difference in systolic and diastolic pressure, which is caused by measurement errors resulting from an incorrect measurement technique or incorrect measuring equipment.

The wrong technique for measuring diastolic pressure is that the brachial artery is compressed too much with the handset, which causes a false lowering of blood pressure. In case of automatic apparatuses, the problem of incorrect diastolic pressure reading may be related to the formula that is used for the calculationdiastolic pressure through the device. In fact, electronic devices only measure systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure is calculated using a special formula. Not all formulas are sufficiently accurate and this fact may result in inaccuracy of the result displayed on the screen. Finally, depleting batteries can cause inaccurate measurement.

Since you do not mention who it is and under what circumstances the increased amplitude of blood pressure is stated, I cannot refer to a specific case. Regards.
