My son was born with Down syndrome. He is now 10 years old and, unfortunately, he doesn't speak. He has speech therapy, but so far I do not see the results. He understands what is said to him, but adds nothing "from himself". I'm already losing hope that he will ever say anything.
Perhaps the reason for the son's lack of speech is additional defects and neurological damage associated with Down syndrome. It is worth consulting this with a good pediatric neurologist. However, speech therapy conducted for so long should leave a mark. Please discuss this with your speech therapist or consult with another (preferably one who is also an oligophrenopedagogue).
