I started work in January 2015 on the basis of an employment contract. In March, I am going to a sanatorium, and I only have 6 days of holiday leave. Can I take a sick leave for the rest of my stay in the sanatorium?

In the case of spa sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation in a spa sanatorium, the patient comes for treatment as part of the holiday leave and pays the sanatorium fee in accordance with the ordinance of the Minister of He alth (Journal of Laws No. 139 item 1136, as amended).

You should also contact the branch of the National He alth Fund, which referred you to treatment in a sanatorium.

It is worth knowing that the referral is verified every 18 months from the date of issue. If treatment is not started, the National He alth Fund sends a referral to the service provider who issued it - for re-verification. Negative verification result - the doctor issuing the referral notifies both the patient and the relevant NHF department within 30 days of receiving the referral. The referral is positively verified - it should be sent back to the NHF branch within 30 days from the date of receipt, where it will be checked again. If the control result is positive, no place is lost on the waiting list, and if the treatment date is set, the provincial branch of the National He alth Fund will deliver the patient a confirmed referral no later than 14 days before the treatment start date.

Legal basis: REGULATION OF THE MINISTER OF HEALTH of 7 July 2011 on referral to spa treatment or spa rehabilitation (Journal of Laws of 2011 No. 142 item 835 as amended)
