I have a question about a local medical commission that examines candidates for police service. Can the braces make me receive a negative decision from the dentist who is on the commission?
The dental appliance should not be an obstacle to work in the police.
The issue of aesthetics has been strongly articulated recently, but the apparatus itself has not been mentioned in the Annex to the Ordinance of the Minister of the Interior of December 19, 2014 (item 1898) - List of diseases and disabilities, along with categories fitness for service, on the basis of which a medical decision is issued, about the candidate's ability or inability to serve in the police, border guards, state fire brigades and the government security office or officers of these services - as an element that excludes work in the Police.
The dental braces do not hinder the chewing and digestion processes, nor does it have a destructive effect on the functioning of a policeman.
Please remember that the district medical commission issues the decision immediately after carrying out the necessary medical examinations and collecting the necessary documents, including medical documentation. If additional documents are necessary to issue the decision, the district medical commission shall summon the examined person in writing to provide them within 14 days from the date of delivery of the summons. In this case, the district medical commission may also apply to the entity referring the medical commission to provide these documents within 14 days from the date of delivery of the request.
