I have a dad with bipolar disorder. He steals money in the family and then denies everything very convincingly. There is no guilt at all. Is this theft related to a personality disorder? Can it be treated somehow?
Exactly. In affective disorder, patients do not steal and then cover it up neatly. Everyone has their own personality, often not matching the expectations of the environment. It is impossible to heal the personality in an adult person, it is possible when the personality is not yet formed. The father must be aware that in this case the affective disorder does not protect him from responsibility, and if he ever "fell into it" it could be a good lesson for him. Regards!
