My son is 18 months old and he likes to "brush his teeth" himself, I know he doesn't do it exactly. Unfortunately, my attempts to improve end up with his anger, I don't want to discourage him. Of course, he cleans with only water, because he can't spit the toothpaste out yet. What to do, I'm afraid of caries?

I think 18 months is the right time to visit the dentist with my son. I propose to prepare a surprise for him and plan a great trip to the office. This visit is called adaptation visit. It is based on the fact that the child can freely familiarize himself with the dentist's office, with the doctor, with various dental devices. He can sit in the chair, see a large model of false teeth. During this time, the doctor will be able to check the condition of the teeth and possibly recommend e.g. fluoride or lapping.

Remember that our expert's answer is informative and will not replace a visit to the doctor.
