I haven't lived with my husband for 4 months, my daughter (6.5 years old) lives with me, and she spends one night a week with her dad. Until now, the little one has drawn us all together, most recently she is with her father or mother in the drawing. The drawings are colorful, in the middle of the page, both characters are smiling … Therefore, can I believe that my daughter has become accustomed to the situation for her? Even though her parents are not together, does she feel insecure?
Hello! In fact, a child's drawings can often be a source of much information about a child's emotional state. However, you have to be careful. They should not be overestimated and should not be overinterpreted unnecessarily. It may be that your daughter has calmed down and accepted the situation. What and how he draws can be a sign of that. The most important thing, however, is what he says. You can talk to her very gently. Observation is also crucial. Find answers to the questions - Is she happy, joyful, satisfied, can she play quietly, can she focus for a while, eats nicely (not too much and not too little), does not get sick, sleeps peacefully. Is he talking about his dad, or what they did, and was it fun. This is the basic information for you. Base your conclusions on them. If this information is correct, the drawings can only confirm it. Never take them as a signal in itself.
