Failure to follow the rules of the diet can even lead to liver and kidney failure, and thus - life-threatening.

Fructose intolerance diet - what can't you eat?

Products that should be absolutely eliminated from the diet are:

Glucose should be used to sweeten food and drinks.

  • fresh small seed fruits (apples, pears, melons, papayas, watermelons);
  • dried fruit (apples, plums, apricots, figs, dates, raisins);
  • honey;
  • fruit-basedpreserves (jams, mousses, marmalade, syrups);
  • fruit and vegetable juices;
  • vegetables: green peas, carrots and parsley, potatoes, cucumbers, radishes;

You should limit your consumption of tomatoes, leeks, white and red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, pumpkin, onions, green beans, peas and beans. These vegetables are said to be allowed in small amounts.

  • dairy products enriched with fruit and fruit aromas: fruit yoghurt, fruit curd, fruit buttermilk, fruit whey, flavored milk;
  • agave syrup and maple syrup;
  • soybeans;
  • wheat and barley;

and all other products in which table sugar (sucrose) is used.

Fructose intolerance diet - what can you eat?

  • natural dairy products, such as: milk, cottage cheese, buttermilk, yoghurt, curdled milk, cheese ( although in this case it is better to read the label first);
  • vegetables - asparagus, spinach, lettuce, celery, cauliflower and root vegetables - except for carrots and parsley (especially when cooked), potatoes, cucumbers, radishes. You can eat tomatoes and pumpkin in small amounts;

Patients with fructosemia require vitamin C supplementation (sugar-free tablets) at a dose of 50-100 mg / day.

Patients with fructose malabsorption may choose fruits with a lower fructose content and those in which fructose is balanced with an adequate glucose content, i.e.

  • citrus (grapefruit, oranges, lemons, kumquats, mandarins);
  • fresh coarse-seeded fruits (apricots, plums,peaches, nectarines);
  • berries (blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries);
  • other fruits: ripe bananas, kiwi, pineapples;

However, they should be eaten in small amounts and never on an empty stomach. In addition, people with fructose malabsorption can drink fruit juices diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio.
