My 2.5-year-old son has had back surgery, he walks and is not catheterized, so far he has had good urine results. Now he got a protein of 23.7 mg. What can this mean and what is it related to?
Protein in the urine can be either kidney origin or broken leukocyte protein when there is a large number of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the urine. In the case of the correct number of leukocytes in the urine (up to 10 in the field of view), consult a nephrologist who, after performing appropriate tests, including daily urine collection, will determine how much protein is lost in the urine and whether the loss is significant.
