Diets colloquially known as bag or powder diets are very low calorie diets (VLCD for short). They provide 450-600 kcal per day, while we normally need 2,000-2500 kcal. Who are the purse diets for? Are they effective?

Bag (powder) dietsare very low calorie diets (VLCD), providing only 450-600 kcal per day. The mechanism of the capsular diet is simple. With the consumption of such a small number of calories, the body quickly uses up the reserves stored in the liver and begins to use energy from the breakdown of fat tissue. This is accompanied by the production of ketone bodies that suppress the appetite. Therefore, losing weight is easier.

Powder diet - what's in the bags?

The powder contains an increased amount of protein which prevents muscle loss and the amount of fats and sugars is limited. The recipe of powdered dishes has been developed so that they provide all vitamins and minerals, covering 100 percent. daily requirements, which is not possible in other fast slimming diets, e.g. in the Dukan diet or the fruit and vegetable diet.

Thepowder diet, also known as the "last resort diet", has several advantages. It is convenient, it does not require counting calories and preparing meals: simply pour the contents of the sachets with water or skimmed milk. It is complemented by low-calorie bars. We eat such meals 5 (men - 6) a day. The weight drops quickly, so the effects are visible day by day. This motivates you to persevere.

The capsule diet cannot be used by pregnant and lactating women, children and adolescents and people over 75 years of age, patients with type 1 diabetes, eating disorders, diseases of the blood system, liver, kidneys and cancer. Chronically ill people should ask their doctor before starting the purse diet.

Pouch diet - a fewimportant rules

First of all, you must not extend the first stage of the diet, which lasts about 2 weeks. Then you should gradually expand your menu, replacing 1-2 meals from the bag with a normal but low-calorie meal with vegetables, lean meat and whole grain groats. Since the stomach has got used to the smaller portions, these "normal" meals should also not be too large. You need to drink 2 liters of water a day so that the excess protein does not burden the kidneys.
