I am a man (55 years old). I don't have any prostate problems as it seems to me, but can I take any preventive medications and what?

Drugs to prevent cancer or other diseases of the prostate gland have not yet been introduced. People interested in reducing the risk of prostate diseases are offered dietary supplements (these are preparations containing minerals, fatty acids, vitamins). This attitude results from the observation of differences in the occurrence of prostate diseases in different populations and changes in these differences as a result of changing the place of residence, and thus - the way of life and diet. A diet with reduced animal fats and red meat is recommended. However, it is recommended to eat more fish, fruit and vegetables containing antioxidants (vitamin C, beta-carotene), tomatoes - they contain beneficial lycopene, soy products and are rich in fiber. The beneficial effects of oilseeds (sunflower, pumpkin) have been observed. The "prostate-friendly" micronutrients include selenium, zinc and magnesium. Of course, diet alone will not prevent the development of the disease, and other factors beyond our control are also important, such as genetic factors and the influence of the polluted environment (heavy metals, toxins). Prophylaxis by means of a diet should be followed for years. In your case, it may be less important, moreover, you should periodically report to a urologist for a checkup.
