My boyfriend has a heart problem. He has never been to the doctor in this case because he is very scared - just the thought makes him feel faint, he thinks that "he will have a heart attack on the way to the doctor". His problem is that his heart beats fast for as long as he can remember. He is currently 21 years old. His life was very difficult, problems at home caused him to escape to alcohol, then to other stimulants - maybe it was because of that? Currently, he only drinks alcohol and smokes cigarettes, unfortunately he consumes alcohol every day, but he does not exaggerate either, he only drinks beer - usually 2-4 bottles a day. We are going to throw the cigarettes together as soon as possible. He has always been oversensitive when it comes to the heart, he often checked the pulse, and for some time the panic has intensified when he thinks about his heart, rhythm, its work. An attack then begins (stinging in the heart area, shortness of breath, panic, etc.), he did not know what it was, he did not even suspect that it was a disease. I decided to look for something on this topic on the internet. I'm sure it's a neurosis - is it curable? The most important thing for me is to answer the question: If his heart has always been beating faster than in the case of others, maybe it is normal for him? That he is such a rare case … I will try to get him to the doctor again, but I know it will not be easy. I hope it will work. Please reply quickly!

Symptoms rather indicate neurosis. However, drinking alcohol every day and smoking cigarettes do not help. You should contact a psychologist as soon as possible and start therapy. I don't think there is any reason to seek advice from a cardiologist.
