My son, aged 17, revealed today that he seems to have a different sexual orientation. I don't know what to tell him, how to talk to him in this case. I realize that this is still a young age to define his orientation, but I would like to help him somehow.
The only thing you can do is stay with him and ensure that, regardless of your orientation, you will always love him and be your son. In adolescence, it is difficult to make a diagnosis of orientation one hundred percent, but it will become clear in a moment. It is not something that can be treated, changed or caused or provoked by something. So please don't blame yourself, don't look for "what so wrong I did" in yourself. Orientation is innate like eye color.
