In three weeks, my husband goes abroad to work. Me and my son will get there, but only after six months. How can we prepare our son for such a long separation from daddy? I would like to add that my son is 3 years old and he never parted with us for a long time.
I don't think any special preparation is needed for my son. Just tell him about it. The parting with daddy will probably be experienced primarily by taking away your emotions. And it is completely natural, just as parting, longing and meeting again are natural in life. It is worthwhile for a child to simply learn this kind of experience without any particular ex altation. I think that observing his behavior in relation to this situation may be interesting for you.
