I am in the 29th week of pregnancy, two weeks ago, after the control tests, TSH was 3.65 ulU / ml (the norm was up to 2.5). My gynecologist said it was hypothyroidism and ordered Euthyrox 50. Previously, I had the TSH test three and a half months ago and it was normal. Could the increase in TSH have an adverse effect on the child due to such a break between the tests? And if I take Euthyrox now, will the baby be okay?
In the 29th week of pregnancy, the fetus already produces thyroid hormones and takes only a small amount from the mother. You should take Euthyrox so that your thyroid hormone levels do not drop. Don't be afraid for a baby.
Within normal limits or slightly elevated levels of TSH with normal thyroid hormone levels, it is possible to identify latent hypothyroidism, which, as numerous recent studies have shown, has no effect on development, including neurological development, of a child.
