Good morning. For about 2 years we have had a problem with our daughter's throat (5 years old). Well, she had chickenpox just 2 years ago and I think this problem has existed since then. The problem is that almost all the time the daughter has this little tongue in her throat that seems to stick to the right tonsil, instead of in the middle it is on the side. Generally, the daughter does not complain of a sore throat, but with infections, when her tonsils are enlarged, she has almost no clearance at all, she has difficulty swallowing and I am afraid that she may also have difficulty breathing. I am very worried and do not know what it may be or what to do. We have been living abroad for several years, and here doctors still disregard it and dismiss us, saying that it is normal. I am asking for advice. Regards.
Chicken pox, like other childhood illnesses, can leave traces behind. However, I am not convinced of the thesis that the curvature of the uvula may be such a trace. It is important, however, that during infections there are difficulties swallowing, and therefore probably breathing too. Unfortunately, from the point of view of a speech therapy, I can not do much, this state of affairs should be de alt with by an ENT specialist, and then other specialists. So please go to a specialist anyway, because it is necessary based on the symptoms you describe.
