I have been running a business since August. I am 14 weeks pregnant. If I go on sick leave, what will the premiums look like? How much will ZUS pay me, taking into account that the dismissal will be until the end of pregnancy? What would happen if the business was suspended?
A person running a business who is on sick leave,is en titled to a sickness benefit paid by the Social Insurance Institution . The amount of the sickness benefit depends on the amount of contribution you have declared. A person running a business may declare any contribution basis, but not lower than the minimum ZUS contribution base applicable to companies, which for 2014 was PLN 2,247.60. The period for which you were en titled to Illness Benefit is the period for which you do not have to pay social security contributions.
If the entrepreneur suspends business activity, he / she is deprived of the right to sickness benefit because during the suspension period he does not have to pay contributions.The calculation basis for sickness benefit is the average calculation basis for the last 12 months , reduced by an index of 13.71%. In order to be en titled to sickness benefits, sickness contributions must be paid on time, i.e. by the 10th of each month. You acquire the right to sickness benefit after the expiry of the so-called waiting period, which is currently 90 days. This means that paying sickness contribution once does not automatically en title you to a sickness benefit. You must have been insured for a continuous period of at least 90 days to qualify for unemployment benefit.
