The second stage of the Atkins diet begins after 14 days of the first stage. The menu in the second stage of the Atkins diet does not differ from that in the previous phase, but allows you to gradually increase the amount of carbohydrates, thanks to which the daily menu is a bit richer.

This usually lasts until you have about 2-5 kilograms left to lose. Note: if the newly introduced products cause weight gain or increase the appetite, they should be abandoned.

You can now add gradually to the list of products allowed in the first phase of the Atkins diet:

  • white cheese
  • starchy vegetables
  • fruit
  • legumes
  • whole grains

Second stage of the Atkins diet: sample menu

  • breakfast: scrambled eggs with bacon, ham or sausage, decaffeinated coffee or herbal tea
  • 2nd breakfast: chicken broth
  • lunch: roasted chicken, a small portion of pig iron, mineral water without gas
  • afternoon snack: poultry sausages
  • dinner: chicken liver pate, steak, salad with vinaigrette sauce, whipped cream with no added sugar

The additional 5 grams of carbohydrate you can consume in the second stage of the Atkins diet are found in the following foods:

  • 12.5 dkg of mozzarella or cottage cheese
  • half a cup of cottage cheese
  • half a cup of cream
