- IUD,
- hormone injection,
- contraceptive implant,

This is due to the fact that the artificial hormones they contain affect the functioning of the entire body and there are a number of contraindications to their use. There are, for example, chronic diseases that may be exacerbated by the use of hormonal contraceptives. This applies especially to cardiovascular diseases such as thrombosis, varicose veins, and hypertension (synthetic hormones affect blood coagulation). There is also some evidence that hormonal contraception may increase the risk of developing certain types of cancer (e.g. breast cancer).
Moreover, each person is prone to certain types of diseases and the use of contraceptive pills or patches may activate them. That is why a medical interview with a gynecologist is so important, who, before prescribing hormonal agents, should carefully ask the patient about the presence of cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms in the family and herself. Only after ruling out contraindications, the doctor can write out a prescription.
