Red tea (Pu-erh, Oolong, Pushong) not only supports weight loss, but also lowers cholesterol and protects against cavities. Check what other properties Pu-erh tea has, how to brew it to take full advantage of them and which types of tea are worth reaching for.

Red teais called dragon tea by the Chinese. It is interesting that it was once an everyday drink for Poles. One of the memories of our reality in the People's Republic of Poland is her - red Oolong tea, with the Polish name Ulung. Then the cheapest, widely available. In those days, hardly anyone realized that this brown, slightly earthy tea is a real delicacy.

Red tea: Pu-erh, Oolong, Pushong species

Red tea is considered the most aromatic tea, with a spicy flavor and specific aroma. It undergoes light fermentation, which is broken when the leaves at the tips turn slightly red.

In world production, black variety accounts for over 75%, green - about 20%, red - about 5%, white - about 2%.

There are several varieties of red tea, all of them are semi-fermented teas. They are mainly produced in Southeast China and Taiwan. In the Puszong variety, the fermentation process is very short. It is used for the production of e.g. jasmine teas. Pu-erh variety - the most effective in the fight against excess weight - additionally, after the fermentation process, it still has to mature under appropriate conditions. The best and, at the same time, the most expensive teas mature for over 50 years. There is also a variation of Oolong.

Red tea and slimming

The fermentation process in red tea is shorter than in black tea, so it contains more enzymes and polyphenols. It owes them its slimming properties. Polyphenols (tannins) regulate the secretion of bile and facilitate digestion, and also accelerate the conversion of fat into energy.

And what is very important - they lower cholesterol. All varieties of tea contain a lot of minerals and trace elements as well as caffeine, polyphenols (tannins), manganese, calcium, fluoride (therefore tea protects teeth against tooth decay), essential oils and proteins. They improve memory, normalize pressure and have diuretic properties. And recent researchprove that they reduce the risk of cancer.

It's true that red tea aids digestion and fat burning. But let's face it - drinking it alone will not make us slimmer! However, it will be a great ally of a wise diet. If you start to eat less calories and drink 5-6 cups of red tea a day, you will notice the results sooner. Drink it half an hour after each meal - then it will work best.

Red tea for overeating

Red tea infusion promotes digestion and removes the feeling of an overcrowded stomach. It stimulates the secretion of gastric juices, thus improving digestion.

Red tea stimulates

The stimulating effect of red tea is associated with the presence of caffeine in it. The caffeine in tea, however, has a different effect than the caffeine contained in coffee: the latter is already absorbed in the stomach, and therefore it works very quickly. The same compound contained in tea is absorbed only in the intestines, so it enters the bloodstream much more slowly.

Red tea can help fight infections

The mixture of polyphenolic ingredients contained in teas effectively fights bacteria and viruses, so teas can be used both to counteract and support infectious diseases, e.g. flu, colds, diarrhea or inflammation of the oral mucosa or gums .

Important

Tea contains the same caffeine as coffee, but its effects are slightly different.

  • One cup of red tea provides 12 mg of caffeine and 60-120 mg of coffee (black tea 110 mg, green tea 8 mg). This means that 5-6 cups of red tea contain as much caffeine as one small black tea.
  • Caffeine from coffee is quickly absorbed, giving immediate stimulation of the circulatory system. The tea in tea is absorbed much slower (due to the large amount of polyphenols - tannins that give tea its flavor), but it stays in the body longer. It revives gently and the effect is long-lasting.
