- Chyrowa-ski: what to see around the ski station
Chyrowa-ski is a small ski resort, well prepared to welcome tourists who are starting to learn to ski. The routes are relatively straightforward and the slope is 130 meters wide.
Chyrowa-skiis a relatively young ski station. She started in the 2006-07 season and is especially popular among beginners. The routes here are gentle, but quite long. The main one runs exactly along the 900 m long platter lift and is marked in red as medium difficult. However, it is a bit of an exaggeration, because the gentle slope (elevation 183 m), descending evenly along the entire length, will certainly not be a problem even for an inexperienced skier or snowboarder. Rather, the route deserves a blue marking. The blue one is the second, longer route leading in a curve a little further from the lift that serves the red route. It is even gentler and finds fewer amateurs.
The resort prides itself on the fact that the slope is very wide, as much as 120 meters. True, there is plenty of space. In addition to the main ski lift, on the same slope there are two shorter ones, 100 and 400 m long.
Chyrowa-ski - ski resort at European level
The infrastructure of the center is of a really high, European level. The surprise was all the greater as it clearly contrasts with the well-known, larger and older, though not too distant, lift on Magura Małastowska. There the wish list could be dragged on forever, everything is as it should be: a large convenient parking lot, a nice restaurant, an open-air grill, spacious, clean and warm toilets. Electronic gates support time and multi-journey tickets, and the service at the lift is efficient. The whole is completed by a ski and snowboard equipment rental and a ski school. You can only stick to the condition of the slope, because here and there blocks of ice, torn out by snow groomers, protruded from under the packed snow.
Chyrowa-ski: additional attractions
An additional winter attraction that you can try in the Chyrów resort is the possibility of riding snowmobiles. You can rent equipment for a quarter or half an hour and try skiing on a special slope right next to the ski slopes, or go on a longer trip on forest roads with gentle ridgesBeskid Niski, towards the peaks of Denmark (698 m above sea level), Polana (651 m above sea level) or Chyrowa (695 m above sea level). You can also go on such a trip with a guide.
Chyrowa-ski: what to see around the ski station
Chyrowa is located in the eastern part of the Low Beskids, about 8 kilometers west of Dukla, on the north-eastern edge of the Magura National Park. In the depths of the Iwelka river valley, along which the village stretches, above the lift, there is a wooden Greek Catholic church dedicated to the Protection of the Mother of God. It was built in the 18th century and was saved from demolition in the times of the Polish People's Republic. Nicely restored, it hides a complete iconostasis. Now it is a branch of the Roman Catholic parish in Iwla.
While relaxing in this area, it is worth visiting Dukla with its rococo church, a nice market square and the ruins of a synagogue, go to the hermitage of St. John of Dukla, go on the nature path above Chyrowa, or go on a trip to the national park. In the vicinity, we will also see many wooden churches connected by a trail of wooden architecture and the last traditional Lemko chyże - houses of the indigenous inhabitants of the Low Beskids.
