What can the RDW, which is twice as high as twice as high in the blood test of a 26-year-old woman, show?

RDWis one of the parameters performed during the blood count test and it is an abbreviation of the English words "Red (cell) Disstribution Width" - this term means the occurrence of a difference in the size of individual blood cells red.

The RDW standard is defined differently and may differ slightly from lab to lab. Usually it ranges between 11 and 14.5%.

An increase in the RDW indicates a large variation in the size of red blood cells, a condition known as anisocytosis. It is not a condition that allows you to make a specific diagnosis because anisocytosis can occur in various disease states - most often in anemia (anemia), inflammation.

The result of the RDW parameter examination should be interpreted by the attending physician in comparison with the symptoms experienced by the patient and the result of the examination carried out in the office by the doctor.

I encourage you to visit your attending physician.
