What is the easiest way to distinguish pyoderma from erythema nodosum? What are the indisputable differences? I suffer from ulcerosa colitis, and in the course of this disease, pyoderma and erythema appeared once. Unfortunately, I cannot fully say whether what has now appeared and has been classified by the gastrologist as erythema, is sometimes not pyoderma.
In case of diagnostic doubts, a dermatological examination and possibly a skin biopsy are necessary. Changes in the course of erythema nodosum, unlike pyoderma gangrenosum, do not break down (i.e. no ulceration).
