A month ago I had a focal change of 8 x 8 x 9 mm lithium-liquid with microcalcifications in my right thyroid lobe, and a few small changes in the left lobe, the largest 5 x3 x 5 mm hypoechoic. On January 22nd, I have an appointment for a biopsy of this biggest lesion. However, the matter got complicated because it turned out that I was pregnant. Please answer, does such a change indicate a malicious change? If so, can it be treated effectively in pregnancy? I still have a 4-year-old son at home, I would not want to miss something.
Malignant changes are diagnosed in a histopathological examination, not an ultrasound. A thyroid nodule biopsy is a fairly simple procedure and pregnancy is not a contraindication to the procedure.
