Eight months ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Since then, I have been taking Letrox 50 tablets every morning. My weight is quite high. Shouldn't it be easier for me to lose even a few kilos while taking these pills? Am I condemned to taking pills every day for the rest of my life? If I get pregnant, will these pills not hurt my baby?
Letrox is not a weight loss drug. You can only lose a few kilos if you change your diet. For how long will you be treated, please ask the doctor treating you. Hypothyroidism only means that your thyroid is not producing enough hormones, but it says nothing about the cause of the disorder. The length of treatment depends on this cause. Too little thyroid hormone produced may be harmful to your baby, as they are needed for the proper development of the fetus. Certainly you are not taking the thyroid hormones that you are missing.
