Hello. I am 51 years old and two years ago I was diagnosed with obstruction in 90% of the iliac artery. The doctor prescribed me the drugs Clogrel 75 and Polocard 150mg. He also informed me that this artery should be stented and quit smoking immediately. I take medications, my family doctor prescribes them, but I did not go to the vascular surgeon for a follow-up visit. I have the so-called intermittent claudication. When I walk slowly on flat ground, pain in my leg starts after about 1 km. However, when I move a little faster, I walk a mountain of 200 m. I quit smoking a year ago, ie I changed to another addiction - I use an electronic cigarette with a small dose of nicotine. I would like to emphasize that I have not tested other arteries except those in the legs and abdomen, my cholesterol level is normal. Regards
The indication for an endovascular surgery or procedure is short-term claudication or pain at rest. Maintaining a proper diet and quitting smoking is the correct course of action. If, according to the patient's opinion, the limb efficiency is satisfactory, the procedure can be postponed
