My 5-year-old son had a bilateral vesicouretero-renal outflow. What is it actually? He had ultrasound, urography and cystoureterography done. The kidneys secrete simultaneously, bilateral ureteral outflow to the renal pelvis is visible. We have a referral for symmetrical kidney scyntography at the Institute of Oncology, what is it about?

Vesicouretero-renal drainage means the return of urine to the kidneys during urination. This condition favors infections and kidney damage. However, outflow is the most common symptom of lower urinary tract dysfunction and this should be explained first of all. Kidney scintigraphy, in turn, is a test that determines the function of the kidneys and the degree of their damage. It consists in administering an agent which is taken up by the kidneys. The exposure during the examination is lower than in the case of taking one X-ray image.
