This is due to hypericin, which - to put it simply - increases the concentration of serotonin in the central nervous system and improves mood. Moreover, St. John's wort extract has calming properties, it also has a positive effect on concentration and memory, which undoubtedly also improves mood. When reaching for this herb, however, you need to be careful. St. John's wort increases the skin's sensitivity to sunlight - especially in fair-skinned people, prolonged exposure to the sun or a visit to the solarium may result in burns. In addition, the simultaneous use of St. John's wort and other drugs may reduce their effectiveness - this applies, for example, to oral contraceptives, anticoagulants, high blood pressure drugs.

However, it is better to use herbal remedies with lemon balm to improve your mood (eg Neurosina or Nervosan). You can also prepare a tasty lemon balm wine, which has a tonic effect on the nervous system: 50 g of crushed fresh lemon balm leaves pour 700 ml of dry white wine and set aside for 5 days.
