Oral mycosis: treatment
Oral mycosis is first treated topically - with ointments and antifungal fluids. Before administering drugs, an antimycogram should be made to determine the susceptibility of a given strain to drugs, which allows for an effective treatment.
Oral medications are started if topical treatment is ineffective.
Importantly, in order to prevent relapses, treatment should be strictly continued for at least two weeks after the symptoms disappear.
Treatment of oral mycosis can be tedious and long-lasting, but it should not be abandoned, because if neglected, candidiasis can lead to systemic infection.
