Thyme, turnip rape, sage are herbs that effectively relieve a sore throat, and are cheaper than medications. The easiest way to rinse them is to rub them on the neck and warm compresses. We give you recipes for herbal infusions for a sore throat.

When you rinse your throat, you remove some germs from the mucosa and thus speed up the fight against infection. And if you rinse withinfusionfrom herbs that have antiseptic properties, the treatment is even more effective. In addition, you moisturize the mucosa, and thensore throatand burning ease.Herbsrelaxing and anti-inflammatory can also be used for rubbing the neck (especially under the jaw) or for making warm compresses. The heat relieves pain, improves blood supply to tissues, and facilitates the penetration of soothing and healing substances.

Thyme for a sore throat

This inconspicuous plant with a pleasant smell, apart from a significant amount of thymol oil, flavonoids and vitamins (C and B), also contains an exceptionally high amount of phenolic acids (strongly disinfecting) and triterpenes (antioxidant). All these ingredients give thyme its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It inhibits the growth of microorganisms in the oral cavity, thins the secretion in the throat and facilitates its expectoration. It protects the mucosa and strengthens the body.

  • Thyme rinse

Pour a tablespoon of the herb with a glass of boiling water and leave it covered for 10 minutes. Drain, mix with a teaspoon of olive oil. Hold a sip of the warm infusion in your mouth, then rinse your throat with it and spit it out. The rinse relieves pain caused by drying of the mucosa.

  • Thyme lotion for rubbing

Pour 2 tablespoons of thyme into a glass dish, cover with a glass of olive oil or oil (e.g. sunflower oil) and put into a pot with hot water. Heat it over very low heat for 15 minutes, then pour it through the cheesecloth into a bottle. Rub the lotion on your neck and wrap it with a towel.

Sage for sore throat

Aromatic sage leaves contain many valuable substances. It is primarily an essential oil (contains, among others, camphor, thujone) and flavonoids, tannins, organic acids, large amounts of vitamin B1 , and also PP, A and C. The set of these substances determines with a strong disinfecting effect of sage. She has toohas astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, and when used internally, it effectively treats various digestive ailments.

  • Sage infusion to gargle

Pour a tablespoon of dried sage leaves with a glass of boiling water and leave it covered for 10-15 minutes, then strain. Gargle 4-5 times a day with lukewarm infusion.

  • Sage rinseand chamomile

To the infusion prepared as above, add 5-6 drops of chamomile extract. This infusion has strong anti-inflammatory and relaxing properties. Use for gargling.

NOTE. Sage dries the mucosa, so do not use it excessively (at most a few times a day). If the sore throat continues, see a doctor.

Turnip for sore throat

This herb is known mainly for its beneficial effects on the digestive system. But it is also worth appreciating its beneficial effect on the skin and mucous membranes. Agrimony has anti-inflammatory properties, limits the excessive development of bacterial flora, strengthens the mucosa, and improves blood circulation. This is due to, among others flavonoids contained in turnip rape, choline, sulphates, vitamins (PP, K and B group), minerals (silica and iron).

  • Turnip rinse

4 tablespoons of herb pour 2 cups of warm water and cook for 10 minutes, not allowing it to boil. Leave the decoction aside for 15 minutes, strain and gargle with a warm rinse.

  • Turnip infusion for compresses

2 tablespoons of herb pour 2 cups of boiling water, leave covered for 10 minutes. Strain, add 5 drops of rosemary essential oil. In a very warm infusion, dip a large piece of gauze, squeeze. Place the gauze around your neck for 10 minutes, so that it rests on the tonsils, and wrap a towel around your neck.
