I'm 26 years old. As a child, I was treated for hyperopia, my he althy eye was covered, forcing the sick eye to see. All such treatments did not give the desired results. After a few years of treatment, I gave up my glasses because I saw double in them. When I had a commission at WKU, I was additionally diagnosed with astigmatism. Let me add that the sick eye has a value of +9. Since such a defect makes it very difficult for me to function normally in my professional life, I would like to ask if there is any chance to correct my vision defect?
Your description shows that one eye is visually impaired (this is called by you "sick"). The problem with amblyopia is that the optic nerve is underdeveloped. Hence, in children with such a problem, the he althy eye is obscured, thus forcing the optic nerve of that weaker eye to work intensively - such a procedure can help. But not always and not always to a satisfactory degree. When it comes to laser correction, in the case of the visually impaired eye it will give the effect that the best spectacle correction gives. So you cannot level the defect up to 0. In the case of people with amblyopia in one eye, a decision is rarely made about laser correction - one of the contraindications to the procedure is the lack of binocular vision. Nevertheless, I would recommend consulting a specialist in laser correction.
